It is unknown when Coto de Caza may experience earthquakes, fires and other threats to
our safety without warning. For example, it is well known that Coto de
Caza is located in an area having an extreme fire hazard severity
classification in the Safety Element of the Orange County General Plan.
Though the Orange County Fire Department advises that the closest manned fire
protection facility is located approximately one mile from our subdivision, and response
time is approximately two minutes, as we have experienced recently in the
California fire storm, the efforts of the fire protection force may not be
sufficient to protect our community.
It is important to know that we may be on our own in an impending disaster;
be proactive now! Talk with your neighbors and discuss the
following.
Your Los Verdes Social Committee cares!
1.
Learn CPR or First Aid
2.
Designate a meeting place outside of home
3.
Know how to turn off gas/water
4.
Keep extra set of clothes and shoes under bed
5.
Arrange with neighbors (3 or 4 homes) to team up! Check on each other,
designate pet care, and plan where to meet outside of home.
6.
Cell phones won't work - Plan to notify a family member or friend outside of
state if possible.
7.
Important: Coto de Caza advises that each house plan for up to two weeks food,
water and supplies for each person
